Tea Talks

Hey guys!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. I took a hiatus from blogging and wanted to devote time to upcoming exams and projects. December is usually a month filled with events and assignments that need to be accomplished. Yesterday, I experienced snow and it was lovely. However, with most Texas whether it didn’t last and now it is warming up a bit. Today I wanted to talk about taking care of yourself.

I want to clarify that this isn’t a How-To post but lessons in life that I have learned throughout my 23 years. For me, I tend to put others before myself and that can be a blessing or a curse depending on the situation. During the seasons of giving, there is external pressure to buy the “perfect” gift for a loved one or to say yes to multiple social gatherings. This usually leaves us feeling exhausted and can ruin those moments for us.

I believe every season should have giving as a priority, not just when it is fall or winter. The ability to give to others is a blessing in itself, but there should be balance within that. When we implement balance into giving, we are able to truly take care of ourselves. I can’t count how many times I have tried to do everything because I felt that I was supposed to. This leads to stress that manifests itself physically, though blemishes or headaches.

It is important to dedicate a day to rest, a day to reflect on the upcoming week and a day to re-charge. In my Christian faith, a day of rest is known as Sabbath and I admit that I am guilty of not taking this day as seriously as I should. In the end that leaves me feeling tapped out and unproductive. The decision to dedicate a day to rest is beneficial to everyone and is not limited to believers.

Always remember to make yourself a top priority rather than an afterthought, you can’t draw from an empty well.  Social media, loved ones and tasks can wait, your health cannot. I hope Tea Talk was helpful, let me know in the comments how you take care of yourself♥. In addition, let me know your thoughts on this Tea Talk as well as my previous Tea Talk posts located here and here.

-Stay Blessed,

  1. Thank you for this bit of inspiration this morning, Bee! 🙂 ❤ I do the same thing myself, as well. I'll be so busy thinking of and taking care of my family that I use up all my energy. Finding the balance and remembering to care for yourself, too, is very important. xx
